Religious Education (PreK–5th Grade)

Religious Education

Helping our children know Christ, love His Church, and grow in faith through prayer, learning, friendship, and joyful participation in parish life.

A Strong Foundation in the Faith

Our Religious Education program serves children in PreK through 5th grade during the school year, generally following the Hamblen County school calendar. Each Sunday, children gather for age-appropriate faith formation rooted in Scripture, prayer, and the life of the Church.

Classes typically include Bible stories, learning about the teachings of the Church, prayers, and hands-on activities such as crafts and group discussion to help children grow in their understanding of God’s love and how to live out their faith in everyday life.

📖

Sunday Classes

Children gather on Sundays during the school year for consistent, age-appropriate faith formation rooted in Scripture and the life of the Church.

🙏🏼

Prayer & Formation

Students learn prayers, hear Bible stories, and become familiar with the teachings of the Church in a way that is accessible, reverent, and appropriate for their age.

🖍️

Hands-On Learning

Crafts and guided discussion help children connect what they are learning to daily life, making faith formation both meaningful and memorable.

Sacramental Preparation

Students in 2nd through 5th grade have the opportunity to prepare for First Communion. This preparation gives focused instruction on the meaning of the Eucharist, the Mass, and the importance of the sacraments.

🤲🏻

The Eucharist

Children learn about Holy Communion and why the Eucharist is at the heart of Catholic life.

The Mass

Instruction helps students understand reverence, participation in the liturgy, and the meaning of the Mass.

🕊️

Prayer & Readiness

Students learn prayers and are given opportunities for reflection so they can approach the sacrament with knowledge and readiness.
