Columbarium

Columbarium

A sacred place of prayer, remembrance, and our hope in the resurrection of the body.

The St. Patrick Columbarium provides a reverent resting place for the cremated remains of the faithful, keeping our beloved dead close to the prayers and life of the parish community.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Matthew 5:4

A Place of Prayer and Remembrance

The death of someone we love is a time for prayer, care, and the quiet hope that comes from Christ. The Church accompanies families in this sacred time and entrusts the faithful departed to the mercy of God.

The columbarium at St. Patrick offers a peaceful and dignified place for committal, remembrance, and prayer. Located on parish grounds, it allows families to remain close to the church, close to the prayers of the faithful, and close to the community where many have worshiped, served, and received the sacraments.

Catholic Faith and Hope in the Resurrection

In moments of grief, the Church prays with confidence in Christ, who said, “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25). Christian burial is an act of love, reverence, and hope. We commend the dead to God and await the fulfillment of Christ’s promise of eternal life.

The Catechism teaches that the bodies of the dead are to be treated with respect and charity, in faith and hope of the Resurrection (CCC 2300). The Church permits cremation when it is not chosen as a denial of faith in the resurrection of the body (CCC 2301), and burying the dead is named among the corporal works of mercy (CCC 2447).

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
